Educating the children of today is one of the most challenging and rewarding jobs that it is possible to have. Our school motto is Excellence For All and my staff and I work extremely hard to try and ensure that every single Bishopsgarth pupil reaches their full potential. However, we are aware that we cannot do this alone.
As parents, carers and guardians you also play a very important role in the academic success of your children and we cannot be totally successful without your support. If parents and teachers work together as a team then it makes a massive difference to pupil performance. Part of this teamwork is effective communication between home and school and for this reason Bishopsgarth School have created a Parent Handbook to try to ensure that parents feel informed enough about the school to help their children to succeed.
It has been scientifically proven that children who come from homes where adults take an interest in their school work perform significantly better than those where no interest is shown. Simply talking to your child about what they did in lessons can have a positive effect. So, even if you cannot actually speak German or can’t remember how to solve simultaneous equations any more, please take the time to show an interest, it DOES make a difference!
We love teaching your children, and we love involving you in that process too. Please read your handbook and don’t hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions at all regarding your child’s education. Remember, you DO make a difference!
The staff of Bishopsgarth School will work in partnership with the community to raise standards of achievement for all.
We will ensure that the school is safe, secure and stimulating.
We will put into place strategies which encourage:
- Improved examination results
- Enquiring minds
